Description
More than a year and many hundreds of miles into their expedition, Lewis and Clark face their biggest hurdle yet: unless they acquire horses to carry them over the mountains, they will fail in their mission to reach the Pacific. With hope all but gone, Sacajawea, their young Shoshone interpreter, guides them to her tribal village.

Learning Literature Stories by In Audio are a new and fascinating method of teaching important aspects of history. The story of Lewis, Clark, and Sacagawea and their perilous journey in search of the Pacific Ocean is captured in a style sure to captivate young listeners. The hazardous trip and its realities, such as the explorers' intervention when they learn that Sacagawea is being beaten by her husband, add life to the historical event. Ralph Cosham captures Sacagawea's mixed emotions as she approaches her Shoshone tribe to obtain horses for the explorers. His voice and accent are perfect to convey an Early American sound, also adding a timelessness to the story. The afterword adds further highlights on a vivid piece of American history. S.G.B.
